TELL ME THAT YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING YOU WANT&& Y O U R B I R D C A N S I N GBUT YOU DON'T GET ME, YOU DON'T GET ME With her eyes just above the water's surface, Lyric almost looked like an animal, an alligator or shark of some sort, only her eyes and forhead showing. Her glimpse above water was short, and after a second she dived back down into the deep, dark waters of her home. The other sirens of Reena usually stayed in clearer, friendlier waters. But they didn't do it to please themselves, no, any siren would choose murky depths over clear, shallow waters. No...
The others stayed there because it was a better hunting spot. While Lyric had one of the better songs in all of Reena, she liked to take a rest now and then, and get away from the killing. Besides, she didn't need it. She could stretch a meal, making one happy soul last a week in her belly.
Sunlight streaked the waters, the golden beams of light ultimately making Lyric dive deeper. Though her choice of places to go was limited, as the mermaids dominated most waters, she went nearly anywhere she pleased. The mermaids usually didn't like her kind, but Lyric had never stuck around long enough to know. It was too dangerous. Again she surfaced, not for air, but to look around. She was desperatley lonely, and had even been contemplated a visit to the human world.
She scrunched her nose up at the thoughts of humans, but it was more a facade than anything. In all truth, she was intrigued by humans, not as a meal, but was afraid of what would happen if she stumbled across one. She longed to visit the human world, and a place called Ashling, but she wasn't sure how to get out of Reena. Besides, it could be dangerous. Her hair billowed around her, and her brown eyes flashed...
She wasn't alone any longer, that she knew, but she didn't open her mouth to sing. She wasn't hungry, and so it would be pointless. Like most sirens, she could live off of one meal a week or so, depending on the soul. So, she simply ducked down into the water again. She lingered just below the surface, able to see but also able to dive deeper, into safer waters, if needed.
There were so many things in Reena that could kill you, it wasn't even funny.

Snowball was a cat, so naturally he felt a little off here. He would rather run farther back onto land. Water terrified him, but here is where he needed to be. Fortuna watched the land closer, scanning for him, making sure he did not step outta line, which he did often. The two where at nearly constant war but had a sort of understanding. His gifts were...neccessary, and he would lend them if she allowed him a bit of fun, though his version of fun did not suit everyone. Definately not! Insubordinance, how he loved the world when he was the one enacting it. Faollen, he loved to push his fellow demon but now, now he was tired, so very tired. Of everything. Rest was not something he got under everyones watchful eye, everyones suspecting eyes. The prejiduced freaks, if it was up too him none of them would exist!
Hearts to his liking did not come in large numbers! So, eating was not on the schedule. Instead he would bask in the darkness, right next to the dank waters. Oh yes! He knew he was not alone, he had been watching the little Siren for a while now. All the others strayed to clearer waters where the happy souls rested. Here all she had on the menu was him, a measly cat demon, that she should not try to mess with. He was not in the mood really, not to play games with the likes of her, at her young age. No siren's song could tempt him, not when he was a more beast than human. Sure he had a human's mind and intellect, but an animal's instinct sure. When he sensed danger he would react in a way an animal will, except more organized more....well human, but not. He was neither person or beast, so he was better than both.
A slight sigh echoed passed his fluffy lips and he rolled toward the river and rasied to a sitting posistion. "Are you planing on just tredding water there all day? Or are you planning on giving me some peace sometime soon?" his way of asking her to leave...gently. Alone, something he nearly never was, was definately what he wanted. But if she wanted to play he would. Snow was a tremendous fisher. "So, pretty lady," he stood and stretched, yawning in a way only a cat could. "Don't you have any fishie friends to hang around with, or any souls to seduce." They were quite the same if you looked at it the right way. Both seducing something else for a meal.

TELL ME THAT YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING YOU WANT&& Y O U R B I R D C A N S I N GBUT YOU DON'T GET ME, YOU DON'T GET ME Ah. So it was the kitty that worked for... who was it? Oh yeah, Momma Fortuna, the pyshco granny/collector witch. Oh course.
"Are you planing on just tredding water there all day? Or are you planning on giving me some peace sometime soon?" His words infuriated her, but she calmed quickly. No use losing it over a cat. Well, maybe he was a special case, but not so special she'd whip out her angry face for him. It was a tiring process. Really.
She pulled her face completely out of the water, so he could see her better. "I thought cats hated water?" Her retort was softer than usual, both curious and sharp at the same time. Why was he here? Under that witches order sno doubt, but for what? Fortuna was a collector, she knew from the rumors, but surely a siren was common enough? She looked like a human in all ways, minus the ability to stay underwater for ages. But other than that, and beauty (duh), she was normal. And plain. Not special or shiny or collectible. No way.
Then again, if he was here for her, at least she'd get into the human world. Lyric had heard rumors about the Carninval thing Momma Fortuna ran, and, though she wasn't certain, had heard they held their performances in the human world, where the people where a bit less street-smart. Well, that was a bit of an understatement. Frankly, humans were among the stupidest creatures alive, and were easily suckered into anythign that resembled the supernatural.
On his sarcastic question on seducing souls and fish, Lyric rolled her eyes. "Not at the moment. I just ate last week, so..." She didn't expect the cat to know siren anatomy, but she knew it so well it was sort of second nature. Siren's ate the souls of sailors, not their actual bodies. And a good soul coudl last a couple of weeks.
Not that the little cat could know that, though.

The water lapped greedily at nothing. Sirens waited eagerly for a ship to pass by, each other the soul-eating creatures awaiting much needed prey, most of them part of the same group of Sirens. Most. One of them was a loner, one named Raeoki. Raeoki wasn't used to hunting with other Sirens. When she learned that she was a Siren, she had joined a fairly large group of Sirens, but after the pack was separated by Merfolk, she hadn't really had any interaction with her own kind. Eh, I doubt it matters... She thought. Slowly but surely a boat appeared. Raeoki, wanting to get her meal over soon, was the first to sing.
But, apparently, it did matter. The Sirens grabbed hold of her and tossed her out, "Get your own ship!" They cried. Raeoki bit her lip and swam away, blocking out the other Sirens songs to attract their food. Well...that's definitely knew. Raeoki thought as she glanced over her shoulder, I wonder what's up with them? Her mind was deep in thought, and as she went the puzzled Siren went into more shallow waters, and she didn't realize she had reached the land when it scraped against her.
Surprised, she surfaced, to see another Siren and a cat. She raised her wet hands apologetically, "Sorry...am I intruding?" Raeoki backed away some, ignoring the water. It's waves had gotten bigger now-with it getting in Raeoki's face. But, being a Siren, she didn't care a bit. Raeoki put her hands down and glanced at the cat. her lips twitched on accident before her gaze returned to the other female Siren. Did she get forced out too? Raeoki thought as she treaded water. She glanced a scornful glare at the other Sirens that were now ravenously eating the souls of the sailors.
