Since she can remember, Xana has always been a quiet, social misfit. She never really had friends, and even her mother thought she might have been a mute until she was about four and finally started talking. Her mother quickly realized that her daughter was actually very smart, and had been taking in everything she had been teaching her for years, but didn't know why she would sit by herself all day without saying a word. The young girl quickly found her shape-shifting power (to become a pegasus) interesting and would play with other animals, rather than causing childish havoc with kids her age. Her life was obviously differently set than others of her species, and her mother was frustrated with the thought.
Over the years, Xana grew more and more distant from her mother, gradually searching through different lands by herself, sometimes staying out for days without showing back up back home. Enough was finally enough, and her mother banned her from coming back, which affected Xana the least bit. She now wanders by herself, avoiding the occasional characters as much as possible, and hoping for the best to come soon.
