To be completely honest, Anastasia had no idea where she was. And, she had no idea why she had even bothered coming here. If her mother knew where she was, she'd be in serious trouble. Anastasia at the age of twenty-two did live with her mother but only because her mother's health was declining and most Sirens did look after each other for a very long time even if it meant staying with their parents. But, Anastasia had wanted to get away for just today. Her mother had been feeling better than usual today and had headed into the seas of Reena for some visits with old friends. Her mother hadn't been in the sea for so long. Anastasia couldn't help but let for just one day and Anastasia couldn't help but leave Reena for just one day.
She had only been in Ashling once. It was about six years ago with her best friend who would explore any place. Anastasia remembered she was worried to the point, she jumped at every little thing that made a sound. It was fun yet nerve wracking. But now, she wasn't so nervous anymore. She was just trying to figure out why she had decided to leave Reena. When she left Reena today, she figured her intentions were to get away but why come to Ashling? She could've just stayed in Reena and traveled to parts of Reena she had never been before. Anastasia continued to occupy her mind with such thoughts as she broke into a clearing from the Amber Woods.
This place was called Golden Meadow and it was her favorite part in Ashling. The only part in Ashling she had really ever been but the prettiest place. Her friend and her had stayed until the sun set and blades of grass changed colors along with the sun. It was more magical than Reena itself and humans lived here! Anastasia walked through the tall blades of grass, brushing along her bare legs. She was wearing a short dress that stopped right above her knees. Her legs felt tingled by the blades of grass but she enjoyed the feeling. She eventually moved to a spot that she felt was the perfect spot for her to just relax.
She slowly bent down and began to get comfortable on the warm, sweet grass that surrounded her. Anastasia smiled up at the sky as the clouds circled around and the sun beamed brightly. It felt so great on her skin and the parts of her chest that were exposed. Anastasia wasn't the most conservative person but she wasn't the most sluttiest either. But when she was in her Siren form, she was basically naked and she was used to that. So, when she returned to land, she covered herself in mostly loose dresses. The kind of dresses that had enough cleavage and enough leg exposure and had no kind of sleeves whatsoever. Anastasia was a very attractive girl with a great body and she didn't mind showing off her true figure. She had done it before to many sailors who were asking for death when coming any closer to her beautiful voice.
At the thought, Anastasia began to sing because she knew it had no effect on land and it couldn't hurt anyone that might be around her. She laid on the warm, sweet grass and sang old sea songs that the Sirens had learned on their own. This one was from her mother and another favorite of hers. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - are you fucking happy now? _______________________________________ Why did things have to be so confusing? It seemed like things were blanking out on some nights. And if they weren’t completely then he was only remembering things that couldn’t have possibly been real. Why was it that he was still either deep in denial or really far off in some fantasy made up in his head? Which one was it? Was there really some fantasy land that he had seen? Was he really having a strange transformation and turning into something like a werewolf? Or was Eric finally losing his fucking mind and falling off the deep end? There really wasn’t any reason for him to lose his mind though. Eric was a pretty normal guy most of the time, wasn’t he? Fuck, all he did that people usually made faces at was dig graves. And they didn’t even do it because it sounded disgusting or disturbing. They only did it because they knew that he must have been a pretty low income guy to be doing something like digging up dirt to bury people in for a living. It was a good industry though. People were always dying so there was always a hole for him to dig. They didn’t much like bringing machinery up since it was mountain range and there were tons of hills. Oh- that was going completely off topic! How could he possibly be thinking about stupid things like machines and digging when he was going crazy or… really a werewolf... thing? It just wasn’t the time! Fuck, fuck, and damn. He was screwed.
Today wasn’t a work day. Not that it really wasn’t it was just that his boss was kind of paranoid about Eric being around now because of his mood swings and the way he had been lumbering around lately. Sick was what his boss had called it. He had told Eric ‘hey you look like hell, man.’ Yes, those words exactly and Eric hadn’t been sure whether to grin and bear it or to snap at him for saying something like that when he didn’t know what Eric was already going through. Thankfully, he hadn’t done either of those and instead just nodded and went ahead and took the few days off that he was offered. He supposed that he could use some time to wallow in his rental and eat some raw bacon for a few hours. God, that was disgusting.
The spring weather was great. Okay that wasn’t tearing his mind away from anything. It was nice out though. It was sunny and warm; the sun hit his lightly tanned skin that was exposed from the shoulder down as he was wearing a gray tank top with some navy blue trousers that sort of looked like something a gas attendant would be wearing. And his boots were muddy. The black covered in browns and some grayish tints from God knew what. They were worn and tired, but it didn’t bother Eric too much. He didn’t have anyone to impress. He was a fucking gravedigger with absolutely no life outside of that. He was a complete nobody and a bore. If he had it his way he would have picked back up his music when he got here and been a fucking rock star. But things didn’t always pan out how you wanted them to and you started digging in the dirt to bury people. What a wonderful life… that this was. What a wonderful potential it could have had and now didn’t. He hated digging holes.
Being locked up in the house seemed like the best idea earlier but he could feel his legs itching to move out of the dinning room chairs and out into the sunlight. He felt like wandering around. Another new habit that had come with his insanity he supposed. He was slowly getting a grip with controlling the things that went on in his head and was starting to doubt that they were only in his head. It seemed like every little sound he followed really did end up being a sound. For example, the scratching he heard last night had been a possum in the neighbor’s garbage. The neighbor who was halfway down the street… with the loud music. Yeah, Eric could hear for miles, it seemed. Oh! He could prove it to himself again right now! Even though he was out in the woods he could clearly hear some singing but it must have been coming from the café in town, right? Right. So he’d follow that.
Eric’s legs easily maneuvered around anything in his way without him having to even think about it. His eyes were narrowed ahead and narrowed even more when he realized that he was heading in the opposite direction of the café. Call him crazy but he could also smell a very unfamiliar sort of scent. A scent that seemed to come from a different world altogether. Maybe from his crazy, fantasy land? Heh- it was possible.
As he approached the sound he ducked his head a bit and peeked around through the brush. It was coming from an opening in the forest. This opening was known around town as Golden Meadow. He supposed it was golden… whatever.
It was just some girl out there singing. He wrinkled his nose as he stared at her through the brush. His footsteps were surprisingly light but he didn’t really notice. His fingers grazed the leaves of trees and bushes as he tried to decide whether or not he wanted to step through and make himself known. He wasn’t really very sociable since his… accident. _______________________________________ tagged: anastasia emma merrina song: happy by mudvayne words: nine hundred thirty-seven notes: finally posted! lol

Anastasia continued to sing her song that she used to lure in sailors. It was her mother's song and she knew that her mother wouldn't have approved it for that purpose but Anastasia had always been a Siren to run short on songs. She tried her hardest to keep up with other Sirens but Anastasia had always been busy with other things or exploring with her best friend before she had died.
After two verses, the song came to an end and her voice died down as she felt a weird feeling crawl over her. Goosebumps appeared on her skin as she sat up, letting her petite hands support her. She looked around, having a sudden feeling that someone was watching her. It was a creepy feeling and she didn't like it. She contemplated leaving the meadow but took one more look around and decided to stay there. It was probably some sort of small critter or something. Nothing to make a big fuss about.
Anastasia slowly went back to laying down, still keeping her eyes open and aware of her surroundings. She didn't bother going back to singing. Just because her song didn't kill people when she was on land didn't mean she couldn't attract people. She sure hoped someone wasn't here in the meadow watching her. Anastasia went back to thinking it was an animal before turning to her side and staring through the grass, trying to figure out who or what it could be.
Anastasia sat up one last time before smirking, lightly. ‘‘I know you're there. Why don't you just show your face? You are giving me the creeps.’’ She spoke, softly almost as if she was coaxing the stranger out of his hiding place. She knew for sure he or she was there. How? Anastasia wasn't exactly sure but maybe it had something to do with the fact that she was a Siren. Her curiosity had gotten the best of her and she wanted to know who this stranger was and why he or she was hiding and watching her. ‘‘...Come on?’’

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - are you fucking happy now? _______________________________________ He didn’t really realize that he had been watching her for such a time. Sure it wasn’t really a long time but it was longer than he really needed to stare. It was just another person out enjoying the springtime weather, so what? He could get over that and be on his way. Maybe he would find that- no, there was no such thing as magic! Why was his head continuously trying to convince him that there was something more to everything and there was so much more to what was happening to him? Something that wasn’t anything anyone here could diagnose or understand. There was something going on with him that simply wasn’t human and couldn’t be fully understood by the human brain unless they too felt the way that he was feeling after that attack that night. Ugh, or maybe he really was losing it and was simply carrying on and on to himself in his own little world that was his brain. Yeah, that was a scary place to be. In Eric’s little world. Even Eric didn’t like being in his own world most of the time. He needed to get lost in something else so that his head wouldn’t drive him insane. Too much thinking could really wear him out and make him feel rather stupid and tiny. Like right now for example! Fuck, but he couldn’t stop it!
His heart gave an uneven sort of thump when the girl spoke up. His eyes suddenly concentrated on the blond again and the thoughts of magic and another world drifted away into nothing. But he was slightly concerned as of what to do now that she had called him out or, rather, was asking for him to show himself and come out. Eric was not quite sure if he wanted to step out of his safety behind the trees and brush. He rather liked being able to be unseen and safe from that girl’s range of vision. But then a sudden thought hit him. He was tired of feeling lost in his own head and his own little world. Maybe it was time to get lost in someone else’s and be frustrated over someone else. Even if it would only last the afternoon at least he would be able to get his mind off of things. His own things, that is. He was honestly tired of thinking of himself. Right now he kind of hated himself because he confused himself. If that even made sense. Damn. Stop. Thinking.
With a gentle sigh the young man revealed himself, carefully moving branches out of his way as he stepped forward into the sunlight. He placed his flat hand over his brow to shade himself from the sun’s strong spring rays. Then he gave the girl a weary, halfhearted grin. He obviously wasn’t sure if he was happy about this and he was obviously feeling slightly awkward for being caught watching her. It wasn’t like he was a peeping Tom or anything like that though. He had simply been watching her and… getting lost in his thoughts while wondering who in the hell she was. That wasn’t a crime was it? It was simply… creepy and strange. But not a crime.
He stopped just inside of the clearing, suddenly giving her a stern look with furrowed eyebrows and a pout on his lips. “If you were wondering, I wasn’t watching you,” he quickly put in defensively. “I’d just heard ya singing over here and wanted to see what it was is all.” _______________________________________ tagged: anastasia emma merrina song: happy by mudvayne words: five hundred ninety-two notes: sorry for the wait

Once he revealed himself, she realized he wasn't anyone she recognized. She was glad that she didn't know him because she didn't always like being surrounded by people who knew her. Being a Siren meant that happened a lot. You lived in one huge community that spread over many seas. If you did something out of normality than most Sirens knew your name even if they lived in the Black Sea. Anastasia stared at him, making her little observations on his appearance.
The first thing she could tell on appearance was that he appeared to be human but so did she. That didn't make them humans. He could've wandered into Ashling just like she had. Maybe he actually lived in Reena and he was a totally different species. But, Anastasia wasn't one to introduce herself as, "I'm Anastasia Merrina, the Siren. What are you?" That would've just been mind-boggling if he wasn't actually someone from Reena. She would leave that for her to find out later on if this conversation progressed any farther than greetings.
She gave him a warm smile, no point in not being civil whether he had been watching her or not. That had would've been quite creepy but he didn't seem like a potential threat to her. Not yet, at least. ‘‘Okay, I figured I would attract something or someone with my singing. I had a song stuck in my head.’’ Anastasia said with a bit of a blush on her cheeks. She was known for singing being what she was but when she was caught and in an environment, she wasn't familiar with than it was a different story. She wasn't trying to lure the male into a trap and kill him.
‘‘I'm Anastasia. I'm kind of new to these parts. What brings you here? I was just relaxing, obviously.’’ She told him, honestly, looking at him, trying to figure out what he was doing out here. He could've just been wandering around, as well. It wouldn't be long till Anastasia found out.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - are you fucking happy now? _______________________________________ Instead of awkwardly staying next to the safety of his brush and trees, Eric decided to go ahead and step a little bit further out into the open. He placed his hands swiftly in his pockets though as though they were some kind of safe haven for him while he was out and about. When the sunlight fell upon him clearly though he squinted his eyes and frowned to himself. The forest didn’t exactly keep all the sunlight out but it sure as hell did a good job keeping that God damn much off of his face! In any case, at least he didn’t look like some creep lurking around the shaded, wooded areas now. Now she would be able to see that he was just some guy that was going out for a walk in the woods. Yup (compared to lurking in the shadows to simply watch people) that was something that was completely normal. He was just a normal guy frowning at the bright light hitting his eyes. He bowed his head a bit to try to let his eyes adjust a bit more slowly now though. No need to cause himself to go completely blind was there?
Eric gave an annoyed puff as he stopped to tilt his head back and gaze up at the blue skies. His eyes squinted a great deal when he did this but he continued staring while listening to the girl talk. He sort of just brushed off the first part sine she had obviously attracted some attention and there really wasn’t any reason for him to say anything to her about it… yeah, he’d just let that be obvious to her since he was standing right there looking as though he were trying to scope out some invisible jet plane above the tree tops. Didn’t Wonder Woman have one of those? Badass.
“Uh, I was just… wandering. I needed some air or whatever,” he spoke casually and dully while dropping his eyes from the sky. Then he looked back over toward the blond singing girl. He gave her a shrug. Not for any particular reason though. Okay, maybe in hopes to shake off the slight awkwardness that he was feeling around her already. He hadn’t wanted to be seen, remember? “Where you from?”
He knew that she had been new. Why else wouldn’t he have not recognized her? Eric had been around this town for a long enough time to catch onto the faces. Sure he didn’t know everyone but he could find a face that didn’t fit into all the rest easily. Like her. He’d never seen her around Ashling anywhere and he had definitely never heard her singing before. _______________________________________ tagged: anastasia emma merrina song: happy by mudvayne words: four hundred fifty notes: viola (:
