SOMEHOW I FOUND
a way to get lost in you!
let me inside
LET ME GET CLOSE TO YOU. CHANGE YOUR MIND

There was silence. A good deal of silence, actually. Nita’s mouth must have stopped working or something because usually this void was filled with her chatting away about something or another. It was kind of strange being with her and not listening to her at the same time. But Keto decided that it wasn’t really bothering him for the time being. This kind of silence really did not feel like an empty void at all. It seemed perfectly acceptable to both parties and managed to bring a comfort along with it. It wasn’t something that he had ever really felt before and was surely completely new to him. He wasn’t even willing to fight off such a nice feeling. It was relaxing completely. His ears weren’t up on guard and his blue eyes were not flickering around in any kind of frantic hurried manner. His heart was calm and steady and the stinging on his skin was almost numbed by now. Of course whenever he took in a good deal of oxygen and the skin stretched it reminded him that there was indeed a wound still there in his side. But it didn’t make him feel very uncomfortable. He was too okay to be uncomfortable with it. He wanted to get lost in the moment and never let go of it. If only he could feel this way forever. Hah- if only.
Even though for the time that moment of silence had felt like a lifetime, Keto decided that it was a lifetime that was far too short. She was talking again. Then again… finally she was talking again. She didn’t have anything sassy to say to him or any remarks that he would strongly dislike. No, all that Nita seemed to want to say was how old her father was and how much older he was than she. Okay, so it hadn’t been exactly what he wanted to get on topic about but when Keto didn’t feel like having a conversation about something he had no problem in little her babble to herself until she realized that he hardly had any interest toward it. That never really did take all that long either. Ah, but age was tossed out the window in his mind even quicker when she came to the ending of her words. It caused him to quirk up a brow and ponder for a second to be sure that he had actually heard her right or not.
She was hoping to go back with him? But why would she want to do that? Especially after a day like this. It was true that he had said some things that he normally would not say and they were on the rather… sweet side (he supposed) but that didn’t mean he had expected her to want to go back with him. With him of all people? She was really getting in over her head or something. She knew that neither of them could stand the other for too long right? Surely the feelings tonight would come to a screeching halt as soon as the sun peeked back over those mountains and that beautiful horizon. Surely she understood that this wasn’t going to be forever. No matter how good it felt, Keto was sure that he could not push himself out of his own habits so easily. Once he was back in the water things would surely change back to normal. He would be Keto Vellamo once again. The true form of Keto. The merman. He would no longer be trapped in this simple human’s body. And that meant change.
He wouldn’t say anything regarding it now. He was going to let it slide and perhaps she would forget all about it too. Maybe she had just gotten swept away in the moment.
When Nita had lifted herself up and away from his chest it helped to pull him out of the thoughts going through his mind. She sat up and stretched out her human limbs and then was up off of the bed standing in the dim light. He was almost disappointed that the lighting had become dark since he really could make out her form as well as he may have wanted to. Not that it mattered completely since he was still lying on his back and couldn’t make anything out all that well from his spot. So there were no complaints coming from his lips. He had complimented her enough for tonight anyways. She would probably explode if she had another one offered to her. Besides, he could see from the corner of his eye that she was slipping that odd piece of attire back over her head. Once again, there was really nothing that he could stare at. She was draped in fabric. And still somehow shivering. Not that he wasn’t getting to that point.
How strange… he actually was feeling a bit chilly. Keto usually didn’t have that kind of problem.
He pushed up, scrunching his face as he winced from the pain in his raw side. From under his furrowed brow he stared over at the contraption that Nita had been talking about and trying to get to work. A fireplace. Keto knew that much about humans. He had… dealt with a few in the past and had learned some of their methods.
He removed himself from the bed carefully, being mindful of his sore wound, and started over toward the fireplace. Her apology went unnoticed as he sank down to the floor on his knees. His eyes looked over the fireplace and then stopped once they had found a small box sitting a ways away from it next to the poker and whatever else the hell those things were. He removed a math from the box and quickly flicked it against the stone of the fireplace. Then he slowly placed the flame along some wood that had been burning earlier. Slowly, but surely the flame started to trickle down the charcoaled log and began to burn. He could already feel the heat coming from it. He dropped the match nonchalantly into the fire and stood back up, walking back over to the edge of the bed.
Once again he sat down but this time he began to look over his wrist at some of the bracelets that he wore that had come from the sea with him. He slid one off that only had a few trinkets and shells on it and then undid the bit where to rusty looking hooks held the thing together. Once undone, he slipped the items off of the line and let them drop to his lap. He held up the line and tilted his head and then looked back down toward his wound.
“Suppose this will have to do,” he murmured mostly to himself. He then got back to his feet and again knelt before the fire to get better lighting. Oh, this was not going to be comfortable, that was one thing that he was already well aware of.
